The library cooperates with other UK libraries for storage and reuse of user-generated content. For example, a review on this site,may also appear on other library systems and also in the other systems that the library works with - for example, it can appear on booksellers' databases.
The user-generated material is stored against the respective User account and may be amended or deleted by the user of the Site.
The following terms shall have the following meanings in these Conditions:
"Users" means the person registered as a user of the Site;
"User-generated material" refers to the material used on the site, such as ratings, reviews, discussion posts, comments, articles, keywords (tags), or messages;
"Username" is the username that a user enters at registration of a user account and that will be visible to users, visitors and Borrowers;
"Terms" means these conditions;
"Library" means this library;
"Visitor" refers to persons who visit the Site;
"Site" refers to the Library's website,
"Patron" refers to persons holding a library card.
2.1. The site is for users and borrowers to discuss,express their views, debate and write reviews for Library services, books, movies, music, etc.
2.2. User-generated material is visible to visitors, users and borrowers.
3. Conditions of use of the website
3.1. In order to be able to participate actively in discussions and contribute to the debate, comments, etc. Registration must take place and each user must create a user account. With registration, the User accepts these Terms.
3.2. For registration the user must be a borrower at the library.
3.3. After registration each user is required to comply with these Terms. The library reserves the right to change these Terms.
4. Use of Data
4.1. At registration, each user must enter their personal information. This information will not be visible to visitors, users or borrowers, only the respective Username is visible.
4.2. Information on user identity or IP address will not be disclosed unless the Library is legally obliged to do so.
5. Rules of the Site
5.1. Each individual user is responsible for the content they create.
5.2. The library has the right, without prior contact with the user, to remove user-generated material that is inappropriate, does not conform these Terms or that do not comply with UK legislation.
5.3. Messages, comments, ratings and other text provided by the User to appear on the Website must not contain i. commercial messages
ii. information not related or relevant to the website or its purpose;
iii. slander or insults;
iv. intimidation, bullying or other abusive material;
v. material that could be regarded by the library to be inappropriate, obscene, vulgar or indecent;
vi. images of violence or pornography;
vii. incitement to commit criminal activity;
viii. intellectual property;
ix. material in breach of the Data Protection Act
x. viruses or other programs that may damage another person's computer or property.
5.4. Users must also refrain from:
i. using the website to send out surveys, direct mail, spamming, contests, pyramid schemes or chain letters;
ii. pretending to be another person;
iii. evading, impeding or otherwise restricting any security-related function on the Website or features that protect or restrict the use of content on the Site;
iv. using automated systems to access or interact with the Site,
v. use the Website in such a way that the library or another organisations or persons could suffer harm or injury.
Users that violate these Terms may be banned from the site. For serious violations, the user can also have their library membership revoked. The library will notify all suspected crimes to the police or other relevant authorities.
The Library also reserves the right to remove content on the site when the library thinks it necessary, without special notice, information or justification.
6.1. Content on the Site is unless otherwise stated protected under copyright law.
6.2. The User owns the rights to material they have created and uploaded to the Site, but the User hereby assigns to the Library a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual license to use User-generated material. This means that the user gives the Library the right, in both commercial and non-commercial contexts, to publish user-generated material for an unlimited period, worldwide and in whatever medium deemed appropriate by the Library. The user also gives the Library the right to use, copy, perform, reproduce, display, process, integrate, license and distribute such User-generated material. There is no remuneration to the user from the Library for the use of User-generated Material under this paragraph.
6.3. Users may not reproduce, copy, distribute (including uploading), disseminate, sell, publish, transmit or otherwise make available any material that other users have uploaded to the Site without permission from the Library and the users who uploaded material.
7. Personal data
7.1. The user approves the registration of library storage and use of User's personal information. The information will not be disclosed to third parties unless Library is legally obliged to do so.
7.2. Using the right to inspect their personal data are registered with the Library. To disclose information required by the Privacy Act that the user sends a signed request to the Library.
7.3. If the recorded data is inaccurate, incomplete or irrelevant, the user may request that information be corrected or deleted.
9.1.Library is not responsible for the content of user-generated material.
9.2. Library is not responsible for damage, both direct and indirect, that may arise due to the
a) the disruption of the Website
b) the loss of user-generated Material or
c) viruses, intrusions or other attacks.
